PPC Layla Moran chaired final hustings for GLA candidates (attended by 7 out of 11) on 25 Nov at York Gardens Library, Lavender Road in Battersea.
Extract from Merlene's closing speech:
"We need a strong and diverse team on the London Assembly. I offer a unique skills set having worked in the City and in the private sector but also with significant experience as a community mediator and charities champion.
"As Chair of Chinese Liberal Democrats I have promoted the messages of liberal democracy not only to communities in the UK but externally to communist China. And as one of the advisers to the Electoral Reform Society I will be playing a key outreach role in next year's referendum on fairer votes.
"This will be my 2nd attempt at getting into the Assembly and is a role which I would relish and be privileged to discharge. I want to fight for you and Londoners to improve our quality of life, from safer streets to the quality of the air we breathe...and to safeguard the standing of London as the leading global city."
